Our vision is to provide first-class quality 24-hour cable and internet based, television entertainment to residents of the south-east of the UK, primarily to the County of Sussex. which surpasses all expectations,
SVTV which will draw on the resources and talent from the region, to create its content, and its surpluses will be directed back intothe communities, by way of funding and supporting individuals and groups from the area.
Our argument is that the people, culture and current affairs of the County of Sussex is inadequately represented by the dominant players in the industry, namely:
BBC ITV Channel 4 Five The County of Sussex is rich in history, geological features, stately homes and castles, and picturesque towns and cities. Formerly the Kingdom of Sussex, it is located in the South East of England and is divided in East and West for purposes of local government. It is 934,900 acres in size, and is bordered by counties of Surrey (which also borders on London Gatwich airport) on the north, Kent on the east, Hampshire on the west and by the English channel on the south. Where tourist attractive Brighton and Bognor Regis are located. The major cities and towns in Sussex are:
Arundel Battle Bognor Regis Bexhill-on-Sea City of Brighton and Hove (University of Sussex and the University of Brighton) Burgess Hill City of Chichchester (University of Chichester) Crawley (London Gatwick airport) East Grinstead Hastings Haywards Heath Horsham Lewes Littlehamptom Midhurst Petworth Rye Worthing
Residents will have an alternative source of information on the current affairs of the county. To date, the national cable networks that serve this area, (ie) BBC and ITV do not address the needs of viewers south of London. Radio stations, BBC Southern Counties and Mercury radio are examples of media outlets for local news, as well as a number of local news papers.
Our service intends to rectify this by presenting a daily news package, as well as on -air content that reflects the concerns, aspirations and the diverse ethnic of its demography.
Seeing that our programing is all locally-based, businesses desirious of purchase advertisment slots, and/or to sponser programs produced by SVTV will have the direct benefit of a receptive audience. They will be appealing to the viewers who are based in the area, and who will be interesteed in thier particular service. Unlike, national cable systems, whoose advertisers are not appealing directly to any specific county.
As employers, SVTV seeks to provide:
* Administration * The market research. * The studio and equipment. * The channels of distribution. * The promotion
We see Sussex Visions TV as having three unique selling points:
1. SVTV seeks to provide employment for journalists and workers in the creative industries based in Sussex. 2. SVTV is driven by a desire to highlight and promote the geography, history and current affairs of Sussex. 3. SVTV strives to be an equal opportunity employer to celebrate the cultural diversity of Sussex.
Consequently, as we see our selves as an agent of change, we feel that to establish SVTV as a community interest company is the right way forward to attract existing corporate partners in the region, as well as other stakeholders who stand to benefit from its success, (i.e) local authorities, universities, colleges, seasde resorts, schools, journalists and broadcasters etc. LOCATION CRAWLEY, WEST SUSSEX ABOUT OUR OURGANISATION The chief proposers of the project are:
